Windsor police rescued a dog from the icy waters of the Detroit River. A distressed dog owner called police after Ace, her 11-year-old Husky, fell into the river on Saturday. Police say responding officers rushed to the scene and worked together to safely pull Ace from the freezing cold. Ace was soon reunited with his relieved owner and returned home. “I can’t thank the officers enough for their quick response and heroic efforts,” said Ace’s owner. “They saved my dog’s life and I am beyond grateful for their compassion and teamwork.” Officers remind residents to stay cautious near icy water. Never attempt a rescue on your own; if a person or pet falls through the ice, call 911 immediately.
