VANCOUVER - A civil lawsuit has been filed against several men accused in the gang-related murders of six people in Surrey, B.C. in October of 2007.

The suit was launched by the parents of one of the victims, Chris Mohan, who was an innocent victim of the murders, apparently killed because he was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

The B.C. Supreme Court lawsuit by Eileen and Sunil Mohan says the killers originally went to an apartment to murder Cory Lal, but had orders to kill any witnesses.

A second innocent man, fireplace repairman Ed Schellenberg was also killed, along with Mohan, Lal, Edward Narong and brothers Michael and Ryan Bartolomeo.

Matthew Johnson and Cody Haevischer are charged with six counts each of first-degree murder and one count of conspiracy, Jamie Bacon is charged with one count of first-degree murder and Michael Le is charged with one count of first-degree murder and conspiracy to murder.

Their co-accused, 27-year-old Dennis Karbovanec, pleaded guilty to three counts of second-degree murder in the deaths of Mohan, Lal and Ryan Bartolomeo and was given a life sentence with no chance of applying for parole for 15 years.
