A fire at a waste management facility in Victoria on Friday morning has been deemed suspicious, according to the city’s police department. Officers were called to GFL Environmental on Bridge Street near Bay Street shortly after 6 a.m., the Victoria Police Department said in a news release Friday. The call came from the Victoria Fire Department, which asked police to serve as traffic control. The fire was later deemed suspicious, and the VicPD Forensic Identification Section was called to document the scene, police said. Investigators are now asking anyone with information about the blaze to call the E-Comm non-emergency line at 250-995-7654, extension 1, and reference file number 2026-13389.
