A construction worker was injured while working on a crane in Vancouver’s West End Thursday afternoon. Fire crews were called to the construction site at the intersection of Thurlow and Harwood streets around 2:30 p.m., Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services said Thursday evening. According to VFRS, a large power cable that powers the crane had come loose and hit the worker’s leg, breaking it. The VFRS Technical Rescue team were called in and ascended the crane to rescue the man, almost 250 feet in the air. The worker was packaged into a basket, before being lowered to the elevator, VFRS said. Paramedics treated the worker once he reached the ground and he was taken to hospital in a stable condition, B.C. Emergency Health Services said.
