A crash between a sedan and a semi truck sent a woman to hospital with “critical injuries” in Surrey Friday night, according to local police. Front-line officers responded to the intersection of 176 Street and 32 Avenue shortly after 8 p.m., the Surrey Police Service said in a news release Saturday morning. When they arrived, they found a Honda Civic that was “significantly damaged” and provided “emergency medical treatment” to the driver until the Surrey Fire Service and B.C. Emergency Health Services arrived at the scene, police said. “SPS officers also located the driver of the second vehicle—a semi-truck with loaded trailer that had minor front end damage—who did not appear to have injuries,” the SPS statement reads. The Honda driver, an adult woman, was the only occupant of the vehicle. She was taken to hospital with “critical injuries,” according to police. “SPS’s Collision Investigation Unit was called in and has taken over the lead on the investigation,” the statement reads. “While the investigation is in its early stages, alcohol is not believed to be a contributing factor.
