Mounties on B.C.’s north coast marked the 21st anniversary of Tamara Lynn Chipman’s disappearance this week by renewing their appeal for information in the case. Chipman was last seen on Sept. 21, 2005, just weeks before her 22nd birthday, according to Prince Rupert RCMP. At the time, she was hitchhiking from Prince Rupert to Terrace. She was reported missing on Nov. 10, 2005, more than a month after the last confirmed sighting of her, police said. Investigators are still seeking information from the public that could help determine Chipman’s last known location, Prince Rupert RCMP said in a statement. “Investigators have followed up on every tip and lead provided over the past two decades, but we are still missing the key pieces needed to understand what happened to Tamara,” said Staff Sgt. Kris Clark of the B.C. RCMP, in the statement. “Someone out there may have information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, that could help move this investigation forward. We urge anyone with information to contact police.” Mounties described Chipman as an Indigenous woman who stood 5′10″ and weighed 130 pounds. She had brown hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing blue jeans and a light blue jacket. “Although memories fade over time, the B.C. RCMP remains committed to this ongoing investigation and will not stop seeking answers for Tamara’s family,” the statement reads. Police are asking anyone with information about Chipman’s whereabouts in the days leading up to her disappearance—or information about what happened to her or where she may be located—to contact the B.C.
