City of Vancouver crews were dispatched to East Hastings Street near Clark Drive to deal with a water main break Saturday. Images shared with CTV News around 1:45 p.m. show much of the parking lot at No Frills on the south side of Hastings Street underwater. City of Vancouver traffic cameras at Clark and Hastings suggested the flooding did not extend into the roadway, but traffic appears to have been affected. TransLink said on social media that the 14, 16, 20 and R5 bus routes were being detoured off of Hastings Street between Heatley Street and Commercial Drive due to a “road block.” In an email to CTV News, the transit agency confirmed the detours were due to a broken water main near East Hastings Street and Glen Drive. “We anticipate these routes being back to regular service by 7 p.m. tonight,” TransLink said. In an update shortly before 5 p.m., the city told CTV News it had determined the water main incident was “related to construction nearby.” “The construction crew was on site at the time,” the city said. “The water main incident is now resolved, and there are no water service disruptions as a result.”
