Police say a pedestrian who was struck and seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash in Vancouver last week has died. No arrests have been made and investigators are still searching for the driver after the 68-year-old victim was struck shortly after 9:15 a.m. on April 8. The collision happened near the intersection of Oak Street and 6th Avenue, where the pedestrian was crossing when he was struck by a white GMC Yukon manufactured between 2007 and 2014. Police said the driver fled the scene of the crash and was last seen heading south on Oak Street toward Broadway, “We believe there were bystanders who might have witnessed the hit and run or who have vehicle dash-cam footage from the area,” Const. Megan Lui said in a statement Friday. “Investigators are asking them to contact police.” The department confirmed in an email to CTV News on Monday that the victim has died. “As of yet, no arrests have been made, no charges have been forwarded to Crown,” Sgt. Adam Donaldson said in the emailed statement. “We aren’t releasing any suspect information beyond the vehicle description put out on Friday,” Donaldson added. “We are still appealing to the public to reach out to the VPD if they have any dash-cam video.” Anyone with information or images related to the incident is urged to contact the Vancouver Police Department at 604-717-3012 or vpdciu@vpd.ca.
