After the owner of a North Vancouver café was yelled at by a customer making racist remarks, another store on the North Shore is offering discounts for people who support the business. T&T Supermarket CEO Tina Lee says anyone who spends $20 at Kim’s Café and brings a receipt to Osaka Supermarket in Park Royal Mall will receive a $10 discount on a purchase of at least $20. “I wanted to do something special for a lovely lady named Dooyi Kim,” Lee said in a video posted on social media. “I just wanted to show Dooyi a little bit of love. Forward this to anyone you know living in North Vancouver—Let’s give her some love, OK? Osaka is gonna pitch in.” Kim commented on the post, writing that she “doesn’t even know how to respond to all the kindness” she has received following last week’s incident. In one, the customer yells “go back to (expletive) Korea where you belong” and “go back to your (expletive) country.” The customer also threatened to have the owner’s immigration status investigated and that she would “stop all business here.” Kim said she has received an outpouring of support in the past week, including flowers and gifts from regular customers.
