Dozens of bus shelters across Metro Vancouver have been vandalized, sparking an investigation by transit police. The issue was first flagged on Feb. 2 by Coast Mountain Bus Company, which reported seeing several damaged bus shelters along Surrey’s 152nd Street and 86th Avenue, according to a statement Metro Vancouver Transit Police released Tuesday. “Fourteen bus shelters were located with their glass shattered by what is believed to be a small projectile,” the release explains. Transit police say they’ve logged 37 reports of bus‑shelter vandalism from Jan. 1 to Feb. 24 this year, up from five cases reported in the same period last year and 10 for the first half of 2025. That’s roughly 4.7 incidents a week so far in 2026—about eight times the pace seen early last year. “The numbers above may reflect some bus shelter reports that may have been reported to the police of jurisdiction. Due to our active investigation, all new reports of bus shelter vandalism are being reported to directly to transit police,” reads a statement provided to CTV News.
