Police in North Vancouver are requesting the public’s help in identifying a suspect linked to a seemingly random and unprovoked attack that took place early Friday morning. According to the North Vancouver RCMP, the assault occurred at around 5:30 a.m. when a woman and her partner were waiting for a bus on the northwest corner of Marine Drive, near the Bewicke Avenue intersection. A man had walked across the street and, unprovoked, punched the victim in the face, Mounties said. The victim suffered injuries but did not need to be taken to hospital. “This was a shocking and distressing incident for the victim, and we recognize the impact it can have on a person’s sense of safety,” said Cpl. Mansoor Sahak, in a statement issued Tuesday. “We are committed to identifying the suspect and are asking anyone who was in the area of Marine Drive and Bewicke Avenue between 5:15 a.m. and 5:45 a.m. on Sept. 19, or who may have relevant dash-cam or surveillance footage, to come forward.” Police describe the suspect as being five feet tall with a thin build. He was wearing a grey hoodie, black jeans, and has shoulder-length hair. Anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant video is asked to contact the North Vancouver RCMP at 604-985-1311 and quote file number 25-19906.
