If your holiday plans include travel on the Coquihalla Highway, take caution. Heavy snow will continue falling on the route between Hope and Merritt through the weekend, following a big dump on Friday. Environment and Climate Change Canada predicts 10 to 20 centimetres of snow to fall during the day Saturday, another 10 to 15 centimetres through the night and a further 10 to 15 centimetres on Sunday. The agency says it could continue snowing on Monday and Tuesday, but accumulation amounts remain uncertain. Windy conditions, with reduced visibility, are also in the forecast. DriveBC has issued a travel advisory for the highway, warning of major delays due o congestion. “Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions,” the ECCC warning reads. “Adjust to winter driving behaviour and use winter tires and chains.”
