A serious collision shut down the westbound lanes of Highway 1 through Burnaby early Wednesday morning, snarling traffic for commuters. DriveBC first reported the incident around 12:30 a.m. Burnaby RCMP say the road is closed between Kensington Avenue and Sprott Street, and traffic is being directed off the highway and back on at those points. The westbound onramp at Kensington Avenue is also closed. Around 6:30 a.m., Burnaby RCMP said the closure will last for another three to four hours, or potentially into the afternoon. There is currently no word on how many people were hurt. This is a developing story and will be updated.
