A woman was struck and killed by a driver in a parking lot in New Westminster Friday afternoon, according to police. The New Westminster Police Department says a witness called 911 around 4:45 p.m. to report an “elderly female” pedestrian was hit in the 800 block of Boyd Street. Firefighters, paramedics and police were sent to the scene. The woman died in hospital, police said. Video from the scene shows investigators inspecting a large white pickup truck in front of a Quiznos Sub. Police say the driver remained at the scene and is co-operating with the investigation. “As is the case with all fatal collisions, the Major Crime Unit has taken conduct of this investigation,” Sgt. Andrew Leaver said, in a news release later Friday night. “Police will be in the area for the next several hours.” Anyone who witnessed the crash or has dash camera video is asked to call the NWPD at 604-529-2430.
