Washed-up sailboats scattered along Vancouver’s Sunset Beach are being described as eyesores by residents, who wonder when they will ever be removed. Two damaged boats appeared about two months ago, and another sailboat washed ashore more recently. “They’ve been there just sitting, rotting away, filled with water,” said Vancouver resident Neil Thomas. One of the vessels is now covered in graffiti, another is rusting badly and collecting trash. “Every time there’s a storm, a bunch of sailboats seem to break loose,” Thomas said. CTV News asked Transport Canada what its plans are for the decaying sailboats, but the agency was unable to give a definitive answer by deadline.
