Two men in Prince George, B.C., are facing charges after a failed attempt to flee police led officers to a vehicle containing firearms, ammunition and body armour. Brett James Morgan and Kenneth Ricardo were arrested Wednesday following two interactions with police, according to a Prince George RCMP statement issued Friday. The pair first caught the attention of officers because their vehicle’s licence plate was registered as “lost” in the police database. “When police officers engaged their emergency lights to attempt a traffic-stop, the vehicle took off at a high rate of speed,” the statement reads. The same officers later located the vehicle parked near the intersection of Killoren and Mullet crescents and arrested the driver and passenger, who they say are both known to police. After searching the vehicle, police seized several firearms, ammunition and hard body armour. “The driver also had a large quantity of ammunition located on his person at the time of this arrest,” RCMP said. While the release doesn’t specify which man was behind the wheel, Morgan has been charged with driving while prohibited, flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and careless storage of a firearm, on top of four possession-related charges. Munroe faces the same possession charges, and one charge of careless storage of a firearm. Police say both men will remain in custody, pending their next court appearance, and an investigation is ongoing.
