A driver who struck and killed a pedestrian on a rural road in Abbotsford early Sunday morning was arrested for impaired driving, according to authorities. Officers were called to Harris Road between Mt. Lehman and Ross roads just before 8 a.m. for reports of a collision. “Upon arrival, emergency service workers found a white Dodge pickup truck with significant front-end damage. The truck had struck a pedestrian and sheared off a power pole,” a spokesperson for the Abbotsford Police Department said in a statement. “Despite immediate efforts by civilians and first responders, the pedestrian sadly succumbed to his injuries at the scene.” The driver remained at the scene, where they were arrested by members of the traffic unit. The Major Crimes Unit has been called in to assist with the investigation, as has the RCMP’s Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service.
