Pedestrian struck, killed in East Vancouver: police

Police are investigating after a driver struck and killed a pedestrian in East Vancouver Thursday morning.

Officers were called to the intersection of Victoria Drive and East 12th Avenue around 6:15 a.m. for reports a man in his 60s had been hit while crossing the street, the Vancouver Police Department said in a statement

“The victim was treated at the scene, and later died in hospital,” police said.

“The victim was treated at the scene, and later died in hospital,” police said, adding that the driver remained at the scene.

Later Thursday, VPD spokesperson Sgt. Steve Addison provided additional details.

“We believe that after being struck by the initial vehicle he was actually pushed into traffic and struck by a second vehicle and pinned under that car,” he said at an unrelated news conference.
