A 28-year-old man is dead after being hit by a train in Chilliwack Wednesday. Local Mounties said in a news release that they were called to the scene at the railroad crossing on Young Road around 8:45 a.m. “As a result of the ongoing investigation, Young Road between Chilliwack Central Road and Alexander Avenue, as well as Broadway between Chilliwack Central Road and First Avenue, were temporarily closed to both vehicular and pedestrian traffic,” Chilliwack RCMP said in the release. “The roads have now been reopened.” Officials from both CPKC and CN railways were on scene investigating during the road closures, and police told CTV News the deceased was someone who had “a lifestyle transient in nature.” Police asked anyone with additional information about the incident to call them at 604-792-4611.
