One person is dead after a serious car crash on Burnaby Mountain Parkway near Simon Fraser University Thursday morning, police confirmed. Mounties were called to the area just west of Centennial Way around 4 a.m. after a report of a single-vehicle collision. Images from the scene show a flipped-over car and scattered debris on the road. The individual was already dead when first responders arrived, according to police. B.C. Emergency Health Services told CTV News it sent four ambulances to the scene and paramedics took two additional people to hospital in stable condition. Burnaby Mountain Parkway is closed between Gagliardi Way and Duthie Avenue and is expected to remain so for several hours. Classes at SFU continued as normal Thursday, but the university advised students and staff of a slow commute. The Burnaby RCMP’s Criminal Collision Investigation Team is in charge of the file and the cause of the crash is yet to be determined.
