A block of East Hastings Street in Burnaby was shut to traffic early Friday morning after police received reports of shots fired. Burnaby RCMP told CTV News officers responded to the calls just before 3:30 a.m. in the 4000 block of East Hastings Street. “Officers quickly arrived on scene and conducted a full sweep of the area,” the detachment wrote in an email. “No victims were located at the scene, and there were no initial reports of injuries.” The major route was closed between MacDonald and Gilmore avenues during the investigation. Police told CTV News that officers found shell casings at the scene, but didn’t notice any damage to buildings in the area. The investigation continues.
