A 39-year-old man has been charged with murder after a fatal collision west of Prince George earlier this week. Keegan Donald Leigh, of Vanderhoof, was charged with second-degree murder on Friday in connection to the crash, which occurred around 1 p.m. Thursday, according to a statement from Prince George RCMP. The incident occurred in the 1500 block of Loop road in Vanderhoof, police said, adding that the call came in as a “motor vehicle incident.” When officers arrived at the scene, they found a 38-year-old man deceased. A suspect was arrested shortly after the call came in, police said. The B.C. RCMP North District Major Crime Unit took over the investigation, speaking to witnesses and gathering information over 24 hours before charges were laid. Police said they believe the murder was an “isolated incident” involving two people who were known to each other. Online court records indicate Leigh’s next appearance is scheduled for July 14 in Williams Lake. Police said he remains in custody. “Police are still looking to speak with anyone that may have dash camera footage or video surveillance that captured the incident,” said Cpl. Ryan Buchanan of the major crime unit, in the release. Anyone with information should call 604-355-1867, he added.
