Police are investigating after two homes were destroyed by an early-morning fire in Boston Bar, B.C. Investigators say they do not believe criminality was a factor in the blaze, which started inside one home before spreading to the neighbouring residence. Police and firefighters were called to a structure fire on Old Boston Bar Road shortly before 2 a.m. Tuesday. The Boston Bar RCMP said in a statement that the fire had “grown significantly” by the time first responders arrived. “Occupants of both residences were safely evacuated, and police conducted additional evacuations of nearby homes as a precaution,” police said Thursday. “Despite the efforts of emergency responders, both residences were destroyed,” the statement said. “Fortunately, no injuries were reported.” Embers from the fire are also believed to have ignited a third blaze in a pile of rail ties. That fire was extinguished around 3:30 a.m., police said. Authorities said the owner of the home where the fire started is co-operating with the investigation, which remains ongoing. The fire comes as residents of the Boston Bar continue to recover from the Brunswick Complex wildfires, which destroyed homes and forced the evacuation of hundreds of properties earlier this summer.
