A 19-year-old man was killed in a targeted shooting near Burnaby’s busy Metrotown mall Wednesday evening, according to homicide investigators. The Burnaby RCMP says officers were called to Station Square, near McKay Avenue and Kingsborough Street, just after 6:30 p.m. for reports of shots fired. “When police arrived on scene, they located a male victim. Despite life-saving efforts, the man did not survive,” Mounties wrote in a statement. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has identified the victim as Connor Sheriff, who they say “was known to police and is believed to have connections to the drug trade.” Shortly after, a vehicle was found ablaze in Central Park, near Kingsway and Inman Avenue. Investigators have since confirmed the burnt car was the suspect vehicle involved in the shooting. “This was a targeted and brazen shooting in a high-traffic area,” Sgt.
