A 21-year-old man was shot dead in a car in Surrey, B.C., Thursday night, according to homicide investigators. Surrey police say officers responded to calls of a shooting near the 10800 block of 129 Street at around 7:40 p.m. When they arrived, police found a man suffering from life-threatening injuries. Despite life-saving measures, the man succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has now taken over the case, marking the fourth homicide of 2025. In an update Friday afternoon, IHIT identified the victim as Surrey resident Bilal Hameed, and said he has had “previous interactions with the police.” A black Dodge pickup truck involved in the shooting was later found burnt in the 9400 block of 184 street shortly after, investigators said. Police believe the shooting was targeted and say there is no ongoing risk to the public. It remains unclear if anyone has been arrested or if suspects have been identified. “Police are working diligently to identify all parties involved in this shooting,” said Sgt.
