A 24-year-old man is facing several firearm-related charges after police seized a loaded gun during a traffic stop in Surrey’s City Centre neighbourhood Monday evening. The Surrey Police Service said officers stopped a vehicle just before 8 p.m. for a “traffic-related infraction” near 146 Street and 108 Avenue. Police said one of the occupants was arrested after officers discovered he was in possession of a firearm. Gurwinder Singh has since been charged with several offences, including possession of a loaded restricted or prohibited firearm, carrying a concealed weapon and careless storage of a firearm. He is also charged with occupying a vehicle knowing there is a prohibited firearm inside, possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm without a licence and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. Police said Singh remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
