Major crime investigators have taken over the case of a man found seriously injured and unresponsive in Kamloops, police say. Tk’emlups RCMP members were called to the 600 block of Shuswap Road shortly after 4 p.m. Monday, the B.C. RCMP’s Southeast District Major Crime Unit said in a news release Friday. The man was “reported to have significant injuries,” police said, adding that he died “despite medical intervention.” Police did not identify the man or elaborate on the nature of his injuries or how he might have sustained them. “At this time, there is no indication of any threat to public safety as investigators continue to gather and assess the facts surrounding this incident,” said Sgt. Simon Caruth, acting non-commissioned officer in charge of the Southeast District Major Crime Unit, in the release. Police asked anyone who has information about the incident to call the unit’s information line at 1‐877‐987‐8477.
