Firefighters in Kamloops came to the aid of a deer spotted struggling on the frozen Thompson River last week. Videos posted to social media and shared with CTV News show firefighters Billy Dick and Carly Swanson using a rope to pull the young deer along the ice. At one point, the animal tries to stand up, but its legs quickly slip out from under it and the firefighters resume their work. “A concerned citizen called in for a deer stuck on the ice, and our crews responded with a quick rescue,” Kamloops Fire Rescue said in a brief statement. “Kamloops fire wants to remind everyone to stay off our frozen rivers and if you see an animal in need, give us a call!”
