Mounties in Prince George, B.C., have launched a homicide investigation after the remains of a missing man were found. Julian Wich was 29 when he was reported missing on Jan. 2, 2026, the Prince George RCMP said in a statement. At that time, his family had not seen him for several weeks. “When suspicious circumstances surrounding Julian’s disappearance were identified by investigators early on, the Serious Crime Unit assumed conduct of the file, where it has remained under active investigation,” the statement from the detachment said. Wich’s remains were found on June 19 somewhere in the Fraser River, according to authorities. “Based on the circumstances surrounding the discovery and the subsequent investigation, police officers have now deemed Julian’s death a homicide,” said the statement from police, issued more than two months after the remains were found. A spokesperson for the detachment said no additional information would be provided, including where in the Fraser River the remains were located. The river runs through Prince George but it is more than 1,300 kilometres long. “We are unable to provide additional geographic detail at this time, as maintaining the integrity of the ongoing investigation remains a priority,” an emailed statement to CTV News said.
