Taking transit in Metro Vancouver is about to get cuter—TransLink has unveiled a slate of limited-edition Compass Cards featuring the iconic Japanese characters Hello Kitty and her friends. The four kawaii cards going on sale this weekend include designs with Hello Kitty, My Melody, Kuromi, Cinnamoroll and other Sanrio favourites. The cards will be available at a popup at Metropolis at Metrotown on Saturday, and TransLink encourages people who want to snag one to arrive early. This is not the first time the transit provider has offered themed Compass Cards for sale. Other media properties TransLink has featured over the years include Captain Canuck, DC super heroes and Elf, and past sales have prompted huge demand and long lines. Bundles including one Sanrio Compass Card and a collectible luggage tag cost $44.99 each. They will be for sale from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the mall’s Grand Court, and purchases are limited to two per person. If cards don’t run out, they will go up for sale online.
