A man has been charged with three offences more than nine months after a hit-and-run collision that seriously injured a Langley RCMP officer last summer. Langley resident Marek Grundza has been charged with criminal negligence causing bodily harm, dangerous driving causing bodily harm and failing to stop after an accident resulting in bodily harm, Mounties said in a news release Wednesday. The charges stem from a hit-and-run crash that occurred on 208 Street near 50A Avenue on Aug. 9, 2024. The officer was conducting “traffic enforcement duties” around 11:20 that morning when the collision occurred, according to police. “The Langley RCMP’s Serious Crime Unit has worked diligently and conducted a comprehensive investigation, which has now resulted in charges,” said Sgt. Zynal Sharoom, in the release. “This hit-and-run has had a profound impact on the officer who was seriously injured and is still in the process of recovering.” Online court records indicate Grundza’s next appearance is scheduled for May 28 in Surrey provincial court.
