Delta police are not saying much about an investigation that a witness says has kept their officers at a home in neighbouring Richmond for multiple days. A white RCMP camper van with the Lower Mainland Integrated Forensic Identification Services logo painted on the side was outside the home on Cambie Road Saturday morning, and CTV News observed at least five people in white jumpsuits, masks and gloves at the scene. Several Delta Police Department vehicles were present, along with unmarked police vehicles, and police tape was set up in front of the home. A witness who told CTV News about the police presence said they had been on scene since Thursday, and claimed to have seen heavily armed Emergency Response Team officers at the beginning of the investigation. Asked for information about the incident, B.C. RCMP deferred questions to the DPD. That department’s spokesperson, Staff Sgt. Michael Whiteley, did not confirm the presence of ERT officers. He said DPD members have been at the scene since Wednesday evening. “I can confirm that the Delta police are conducting a search warrant in the 11700 block of Cambie Road in Richmond as part of an ongoing investigation,” Whiteley said, in an email. “As the investigation remains active, no further information will be released at this time. Additional information will be released when appropriate.”
