CTV News Vancouver has won six Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) awards for its news coverage over the past year, including the award for best television newscast. The winning newscast included coverage of the “bomb cyclone” that battered British Columbia’s south coast in November 2024, earning the top honour for Best TV Newscast (Large Market) for the RTDNA West Region. CTV News Vancouver also took home the awards for Enterprise Journalism for an investigation into Vancouver police misconduct, and the award for Continuing Coverage for reporting on the struggles of the Surrey school district. The station’s report on Vancouver’s worst road won the top award for VJ – Video, while a series on child neglect in northern B.C. earned the top prize for Investigative Excellence. Finally, CTV News Vancouver’s digital team won the award for Overall Excellence in Digital for its comprehensive news coverage throughout the year. “These awards reflect the deep pool of talent we have in our newsroom,” said CTV News Vancouver news director Ethan Faber. “From major weather events, to exposing problems authorities tried to keep hidden, to bringing context to issues that impact everyone, our journalists are focused on telling B.C. stories that matter, and making sure people can watch and read those stories anytime and anywhere.” West Region award winners will go on to compete with the winners from the Prairies, Central and East regions at the 2025 RTDNA National awards in November.
