Police in Abbotsford, B.C., say several handguns and more than $30,000 in gold and silver bullion were seized last week as part of an ongoing investigation into property crime in the region. The Abbotsford Police Department says the investigation began after multiple break-ins were reported in October. Investigators identified suspects believed to be involved in the crimes and connected them to a “well-known problem residence” in the 27800 block of Myrtle Avenue, the department said in a news release Thursday. The home was searched on Dec. 10 with assistance from the Lower Mainland District Emergency Response Team. Authorities found and seized five handguns, several rounds of ammunition and a cache of gold and silver bullion, according to the release. Investigators say stolen property and evidence linked to the ongoing break-and-enter investigation was also recovered. No one has been charged in connection with the investigation, but Sgt. Cory Johansen says charges are anticipated. “This operation demonstrates our commitment to targeting prolific offenders and problem residences that impact community safety,” Johansen said in a statement.
