A woman has been charged with manslaughter following the death of her partner last year in southeastern British Columbia. Mounties in the mining community of Sparwood, near the Alberta boundary, say local resident Tracy Erickson was arrested Wednesday in relation to the death of a 49-year-old man. Court records show Erickson, born in 1976, was charged on Tuesday in connection with the death last November. The case is marked as a “K” file, which the B.C. Prosecution Service uses to designate cases involving allegations of intimate partner violence. Police responded to a report of a deceased man in the 100 block of Aspen Drive in Sparwood at around 9:50 p.m. on Nov. 2, 2025. Investigators said the victim had been struck and killed by a grey Toyota Tundra pickup truck outside an A&W restaurant. A short time later, investigators deemed the death “criminal in nature” and the case was handed over to the Southeast District RCMP’s Major Crime Unit. “This charge is the result of an extensive investigation by our officers and policing partners,” Sgt. Simon Caruth said in a statement Friday. “We would like to thank the public for the information provided throughout this investigation, as well as our policing partners whose support was invaluable.” The RCMP said no further information related to the case would be released as the matter is before the courts.
