A recent lottery winner in Metro Vancouver was shocked to find out his prize contained double the digits he originally thought, according to the B.C. Lottery Corporation. A media release says Woo Jung K. was so excited at the prospect of winning $500 that he woke up his wife to share the news. It turns out, the Coquitlam resident actually won the $500,000 Extra prize from the Nov. 15, 2025, Lotto 6/49 draw. “I thought it was $500 and woke my wife up to look. I showed her and my daughter and everyone thought it was $500,” Woo Jung K. told the BCLC. “Then we realized there was a Coquitlam winner and my win was actually $500,000.” He said he’s going to celebrate the win with a family dinner, adding the windfall “will be helpful.” The ticket was bought at Blue Mountain Market in Coquitlam. The odds of winning the $500,000 top Extra prize are roughly one in 3.7 million.
