Mounties say the disappearance of a Vancouver Island man more than a month ago is now considered suspicious and major crime investigators have taken over the case. Thirty-year-old Campbell River resident Kolby Sinclair was reported missing to police on March 22, approximately two weeks after he was last believed to have been seen in the community. During that time, he “failed to keep in touch with his family, which is out of character for him,” the Campbell River RCMP said in a statement when the missing-person investigation was launched. On Thursday, police announced that the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit had taken conduct of the investigation. “Investigators believe the circumstances around Kolby’s disappearance are suspicious,” Cpl. Alex Bérubé said in a brief statement. Sinclair is described as a white man standing 5’7” tall and weighing approximately 194 pounds. Police say he has brown hair and blue eyes.
