Police in Abbotsford have released an image of a person they believe is involved in a credit card scam targeting local residents and are asking the public for help identifying him. The Abbotsford Police Department sent a warning about the scam last week, after “several” individuals reported receiving phone calls from a fraudster posing as a representative from their credit card company, claiming their card is compromised. “The caller instructs the victim to cut up their card—leaving the chip intact—and shortly afterward, a driver is dispatched to collect the pieces. The chip is then reused to carry out unauthorized transactions,” according to police. The department asked anyone who recognizes the suspect or has more information about the fraud to call 604-859-5225 and reference police file number 25-16685.
