Someone in B.C.’s Lower Mainland just won the largest lottery prize in the province’s history. A ticket sold in Surrey for Friday’s Lotto Max draw matched all seven winning numbers, according to the B.C. Lottery Corporation. Its holder will claim the $80-million jackpot prize. It’s the first time a ticket sold in B.C. has won the maximum jackpot since the Lotto Max cap was increased to $80 million in September 2024. The previous largest lottery prize ever awarded in B.C. was $70 million, which was claimed by Burnaby woman Christine Lauzon in October 2021. The seven winning numbers in Friday’s draw were 6, 10, 16, 17, 30, 38 and 48. The name of the winner or winners (if the ticket was purchased by a group), as well as the location where the winning ticket was purchased, will be announced once the prize is claimed, BCLC said in a news release Saturday. All lottery prize winners have 52 weeks to claim their prizes. The odds of winning a Lotto Max jackpot are 1 in 33,294,800.
