Officers seized $100,000 in cash after a traffic stop in Metro Vancouver earlier this year, according to the RCMP. Burnaby’s gang enforcement team pulled a vehicle over for a driving infraction and wound up launching an investigation into illegal cigarettes and the proceeds of crime, the local detachment said in a social media post Wednesday. The vehicle was searched after officers spotted “illicit cigarettes and packaging” and the hefty sum of cash—evidently all in hundred-dollar bills—was found in a bag, according to Burnaby RCMP. “They say a picture is worth a thousand words…,” the post said. “This one is worth a hundred thousand dollars” Both men in the car were arrested but no charged have been laid, according to police, who said the investigation is ongoing.
