Ten charges have now been laid against a 24-year-old man suspected of committing six robberies in three days last month. Langley resident Cole Mercer has been charged with four counts of robbery, four counts of using an imitation firearm, one count of theft and one count of possession of stolen property, Ridge Meadows RCMP said in a news release Friday. The charges stem from a series of robberies that occurred in Maple Ridge and Langley between Dec. 5 and 7. In each case, police said in a news release at the time, the suspect used “very similar” methods, including targeting businesses’ staff and customers with a firearm. The suspect was arrested in Langley and a search warrant was executed on his home, police said at the time. Online court records indicate Mercer remains in custody. His next court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 5 in Port Coquitlam. Ridge Meadows RCMP said their investigation is “ongoing and active.”
