Hamilton police have charged a woman accused of sexually assaulting a vulnerable student while fraudulently working as an educational assistant. Police said the victim’s family was led to believe that the woman was a qualified respite worker in September 2025, and the two began meeting outside of her role within the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board. “It was during these interactions that the offences occurred,” police said in a news release on Thursday. As a result, the woman, identified as 30-year-old Karly Tripp, has been charged with sexual assault, assault, voyeurism, and uttering threats to cause death. Tripp is currently in prison on unrelated charges. Police said Tripp may have targeted other vulnerable persons through her work. They are asking anyone with information to contact investigators or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
