A woman and two children have been rushed to hospital after they were struck by a driver while crossing a street in Oshawa on Wednesday morning. The collision happened at the intersection of Ryerson Crescent and Sheridan Street at around 9:25 a.m. Durham police tell CP24 that a woman and group of children were crossing the road when they were hit by a vehicle making a turn. A toddler-aged child suffered critical, life-threatening injuries and has been rushed to a local-area hospital. The child has since been transported via air ambulance to a Toronto-area trauma centre. A second child suffered minor injuries and is being transported to a local-area hospital, police say. The woman’s injuries are being described as serious, but non-life-threatening. Acting Sgt. Nicholas Gluckstein later told CP24 that the driver remained on scene and is cooperating. The media officer added that the investigation is ongoing. The intersection is closed as police investigate. Police are asking drivers in the area to find an alternate route. More details to come. This is a developing story.
