2 people injured in daylight stabbing in Toronto’s west end

An elderly woman was rushed to hospital after being found with stab wounds. A male suspect with non-life-threating injuries has been placed under arrest.

Two people have been taken to the hospital following a stabbing in Toronto’s west end on Monday afternoon, paramedics say.

The incident happened at a house on Jerome Street, near Dundas Street West, just south of Dupont Street.

That residence is now sealed off with police tape as the investigation continues inside.

Detectives are also going door to door, speaking with area residents.

Toronto police said they were called to the area just after 3 p.m.

Once on scene, officers found a female victim with stab wounds. She was transported to the hospital with serious injuries, police said.

Paramedics later told CTV News Toronto that they transported two adults to the hospital: one in serious condition and the other in minor condition.

Police later said a male suspect was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries in a further update.

Victim, suspect both in their 70s: police

Investigators have since identified the victim as a woman in her 70s, who has non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect, they say, is a man in his 70s. He has been arrested and details about what charges he may be facing are not immediately available.

Police have not shared what the relationship between the two may be at this point.

Currently, Jerome Street is closed at Dundas Street West as police investigate.
