Woman in 20s seriously injured after ‘unprovoked’ stabbing in Mississauga, suspect image released

Peel police say a woman in her 20s was seriously injured in an unprovoked stabbing in Mississauga. Investigators have released an image of the suspect.

Police in Peel region are appealing for the public’s help after a woman was randomly stabbed and suffered “near fatal injuries” Saturday evening.

The incident happened in the area of Eglinton Avenue West and Hurontario Street just before 6:30 p.m. where they responded to reports of a stabbing.

When they arrived, emergency crews located a woman with life-threatening stab wounds.

In an updated news release, investigators say the woman had just exited a transit bus when she was followed by a man and attacked without warning.

“The victim, a woman in her twenties suffered near fatal injuries however her condition has since stabilized,” police wrote on Sunday.

“At this time, it is believed that suspect is not known to the victim and that this was random.”

Police say they are looking for a male suspect who is described as five-foot-nine with a thin build, dark complexion, short dark hair with a “receding hairline,” and a full beard.

The suspect was also wearing black pants, a black North Face coat, black shoes, sunglasses, a black backpack, white wired headphones, and a ring on his left hand, police said.

Anyone who recognizes the man is asked to contact police immediately and “not approach.”
