Woman dead in Scarborough hit-and-run, driver sought

Police are looking for a dark coloured vehicle that involved in a fatal hit-and-run of a 32-year-old woman in Scarborough.

A 32-year-old woman is dead after a hit-and-run in Scarborough Friday night.

Toronto police Duty Insp. Brian Maslowski said they received multiple calls for a pedestrian struck at the intersection of Bridlewood Boulevard and Sheppard Avenue East, east of Pharmacy Avenue, just after 9 p.m.

When officers arrived, they located the female pedestrian suffering from life-threatening injuries.

“Despite the best efforts of citizens and Toronto Paramedic Services, she succumbed to her injuries, and she was pronounced on scene,” Maslowski said.

Police are looking for a dark-coloured vehicle they have identified as a “black Hyundai Sonata.” Officials say the vehicle may have front-end hood and/or windshield damage.

Maslowski said the car was last seen travelling east on Sheppard Avenue East.

“This is a very serious crime,” the duty inspector said.

“If you are the driver of that motor vehicle, get a lawyer and turn yourself in. We have traffic reconstructionists here that are piecing the incident together, gathering evidence, speaking to witnesses, and there’s no doubt this person will be brought to justice, so please turn yourself in.”

Police are also urging witnesses who may have seen the collision or were driving by and have dashcam video to contact Traffic Services at 416-808-1900 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
