Toronto high school student taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after being struck by vehicle

A 15-year-old boy sustained life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle near his school on Wednesday afternoon in Toronto.

A 15-year-old boy is in hospital after being struck by a vehicle near his school on Wednesday afternoon.

It happened shortly after 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of Humber Boulevard and Louvain Street, in the area of Weston Road and Black Creek Boulevard.

Toronto paramedics tell CP24 that they transported the teenager to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries.

Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene, police say.

The incident occurred near St. Oscar Romero Catholic Secondary School and in a letter to parents, Principal Stephen Carey confirmed the victim is a student.

“We ask for your prayers for the student and their family during this time. We are also reminding all families who drive to exercise caution, reduce speed, and remain extra vigilant in school zones to help keep our community safe,” Carey said in the letter.

The school noted that social work support is available, especially for members who witnessed the collision who may require assistance in dealing with what occurred.
