A Toronto couple whose wedding photos went viral over their striking height difference is opening up about how their close friendship eventually turned into real love. Anita Wing Lee and Tim Muttoo married in June 2025, shortly after, their wedding photos went viral on social media, sparking international media coverage from outlets like the Daily Mail and People magazine. In recent weeks those same photos are again making the rounds on social media with one recent post detailing their relationship being liked more than 17,000 times on Instagram. Wing Lee and Muttoo joined CP24 on Wednesday to talk about their relationship, the thousands of reactions they’ve received online and how they went from best friends to newlyweds. Wing Lee is five-foot-four, while Muttoo stands at four-feet-tall. For Wing Lee, she admits that it took some time to realize Muttoo could be more than a friend. “It took a while,” she said, explaining that Muttoo was actually the first to admit he had feelings for her. Wing Lee said she initially questioned whether she could see their friendship becoming a relationship, even telling Muttoo “multiple times that we need to be friends and only friends.” But eventually, she realized he had many of the qualities she was looking for in a partner. “He’s kind. He’s a leader. He’s got a lot of vision,” Wing Lee said. From friendship to love Muttoo revealed that his feelings also developed naturally as the pair spent more time together, including taking long walks and engaging in deep conversation. “I caught feelings, and it happened,” he said. He said he also tried to gauge Wing Lee’s feelings without directly asking her, describing how he would “nonchalantly” tell her things to see how she responded. Wing Lee said she knew that admitting her own feelings would change the relationship for good, saying that it would be a “game over” move. “Because I knew that when I told him that I liked him, that it was game over. Like, we were going to be together,” she said. When the couple first got married, photos from their wedding quickly drew attention online, with many users focusing on their 16-inch height difference. Tim as the ‘comments bodyguard’ The attention has brought thousands of comments, both positive and negative. Wing Lee, who describes herself as a “sensitive writer,” said processing the volume of reactions can be overwhelming. Muttoo has taken on the role of her “comments bodyguard,” helping shield her from some of the online response. Still, the couple said they hold on to the messages from people who say their relationship changed how they think about love. “We have gotten some incredibly, like, touching comments,” Wing Lee said. “People who really feel like we just opened up their hearts and what they thought was possible with love.” Muttoo, who is an engineer, entrepreneur and co-founder of water charities H2O4ALL and One Drop Global, has also written a book, “Love Can Grow,” inspired in part by the response to their relationship. He said the book, set to be released Sept. 1, explores finding purpose, building relationships and the couple’s journey to falling in love. “We’re just so excited to share our upbringing … and how we fell in love, and that it could happen for anyone,” Muttoo said. “It truly can.”
