Talks underway on Canadian air museum’s new home

A planned announcement on a new home for the only life-sized replica of a Canadian premier aviation marvel has been halted, according to officials with the Canadian Air and Space Museum.

Talks are underway with Toronto’s Pearson International Airport and the museum to re-establish an exhibit in one of the airport’s hangars that will house a replica of the Avro Arrow.

While it was previously reported that an official announcement on the new display will be made on Thursday, officials told CTVNews.ca that a deal has not been reached.

“There was a last-minute legal glitch and negotiations are still ongoing,” said the museum’s CEO Robert Cohan. “It’s looking extremely positive, but right now everybody is in a hold pattern until further notice.”

Cohan said he expects a further announcement on the new museum in the coming weeks.

The Avro Arrow went into development in the 1950s. However, the project was terminated in 1959 and the aircrafts were scrapped under mysterious circumstances.
