Police investigating after shots fired at another Vaughan home

Officers responded to Choplin Blvd. just before 4 a.m. where no injuries were reported. The suspect left the scene before police arrived.

York Regional Police are investigating another shooting in a residential area of Vaughan overnight.

It happened in the area of Autumn Hill Boulevard and Thornhill Woods Drive at around 3:45 a.m.

Police said one male was observed firing multiple rounds at a home on Chopin Boulevard.

Police said no injuries were reported and the suspect fled the area in a white SUV prior to the arrival of officers.

Images from the scene show multiple shots in the front door of the home, along with shell casings in the driveway and on the front patio.

Investigators note that there will be “an increased police presence in the area” while evidence is collected.

Police confirmed last month that six shootings at four separate addresses in Vaughan have been linked.

One of the homes that was targeted twice in the last month is associated to a murdered member of the GTA tow truck industry, Alexander Vinogradsky, police said in September.

Police have not confirmed if the latest incident is connected to the other six but noted that the shooting is being investigated as a “targeted incident.”

Vaughan Mayor Steven Del Duca said while he is “disturbed” that another shooting has been reported, he is “relieved no one got hurt.”

“These instances are a direct result of a broken criminal justice system that catches and releases repeat offenders instead of keeping them behind bars,” Del Duca said, echoing earlier comments he has made about the previous shootings.

“I cannot express this enough: this behaviour cannot be tolerated any longer. We need stronger and tougher laws and real bail reform from the Federal government immediately.”
